"Back to Okinawa 1980 / 2009" is a photo collection by Keizo Kitajima, one of Japan's leading photographers. After seeing an advertisement for Daido Moriyama's "Workshop Photography School," he decided to drop out of college. After that, he ran a legendary gallery with Daido Moriyama and others at "CAMP," which was based on the style of "presenting the photos taken at that time." Since the 1980s, he has traveled to New York, where he has depicted the city of New York, a "melting pot" of races, as if it were filled with all the joys, sorrows, and happiness of humanity, in high-contrast monochrome snapshots. Since then, he has traveled around Asia, Europe, the Soviet Union, and other places, gradually transforming his own style and creating solid landscapes and portraits. This book is composed of illustrations of "Okinawa," which Keizo Kitajima published under the name "Photographic Express" during his early CAMP days. Published by PPP Editions by Andrew Ross, a renowned photography historian who has published exhibitions and photo books by many Japanese photographers, including Katsumi Watanabe. Limited to 250 copies.
