"Moving Away" is a collection of works by Ishiuchi Miyako, one of Japan's leading female photographers of the postwar period. This is a unique work among Ishiuchi's works, a collection of imaginary landscapes and self-portraits taken between 2015 and 2018 in her home and studio in Kanazawa-Hakkei, Kanagawa, where she has lived and worked for over 40 years. Ishiuchi has presented her photography as "an extraordinary creation," and has not taken any photographs herself. By taking these private works, Ishiuchi seems to be freed from the constraints of the past and moving towards new places.
