Nagasaki Mandala (Signed) is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Tomatsu Shomei. Along with Ishimoto Yasuhiro, Narahara Ikko, and Hosoe Eikoh, Tomatsu Shomei is one of Japan's leading postwar photographers. Born in Aichi Prefecture, Tomatsu spent his childhood after the war, when the country was overflowing with Confederate soldiers. He was obsessed with "America" and "war," and his strong rebellious and obsessive attitude toward "occupation" is the core of Tomatsu's photography. He turned his attention to areas such as "Okinawa" and "Nagasaki," and after moving there himself, he has been chasing the "shadow of war" for many years. This book is a collection of works published in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Nagasaki Prefectural Museum of Art and History in 2000. Although it is a catalog, it is a large book with little text and a total of 304 black and white and color illustrations. Tomatsu Shomei's record of Nagasaki, which he first visited in 1961, 15 years after the atomic bombing, and continued to photograph for more than 30 years. The path of this great photographer, who combined critical thinking, social awareness, and artistic talent, is marked by certain facts that we must never forget. Signed by the photographer .
