"Catholic Girl" is a collection of works by American female photographer Andrea Modica. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1960, she studied at her local state university and received her MFA from the prestigious Yale University. Influenced by masters such as August Sanger and Diane Arbus, Modica has also left behind many portraits using 8x10 as a standard-bearer for portraits. Her most famous work is "Treadwell." It is a documentary that followed Barbara, a girl who later died of childhood diabetes, and her family for many years. Barbara's later years were later published as a solo photo collection by Nazraeli. This book is a collection of portraits taken at her alma mater, an Italian-American Catholic girls' school, and a Catholic girls' school in New Haven, Connecticut. The book beautifully depicts the emotions of teenagers in their twilight years, and is filled with the author's desire for people to be happy and sad at the same time, and to work hard to face their passions rather than getting good grades at school. Limited to 1,000 copies.
