Le Grande Sortie is a collection of works by Alex Prager (1979-), an American female photographer and film director. Prager, who was born in California and is based in Los Angeles, became interested in photography when she saw a solo exhibition of William Eggleston at the Getty Museum around 2000, and has since taught herself photography, releasing her first book, The Book of Disquiet, in 2005. Prager's cinematic, vivid, and meticulously constructed scenes are reminiscent of Hollywood and sometimes Renaissance paintings, and she is a contemporary artist who visually explores deep themes such as human relationships in modern society, individual loneliness, and even identity within a group. This is a short film commissioned by the Paris Opera, and is composed of a group of works that explore and depict the tension between the gaze of the performer on stage and the audience. This is a unique book that gives a sense of the unique depiction that comes from photography and the elements of contemporary art. Comes with a separate sheet, "Element."
