"Photography: Like an Ashura" is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Mikiya Takimoto. Born in 1974, he studied under Tamotsu Fujii from 1994 and became independent in 1998. Takimoto works in a wide range of fields, including advertising photography, photo production, commercial films, and movies. He has attracted attention for his advertising photos of the Toshimaen Pool, Toyota, Suntory, and Laforet Harajuku. Since 2012, he has been in charge of photography for Hirokazu Koreeda's films, and won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for Like Father, Like Son and the Japan Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Our Little Sister. On the other hand, he has also focused on his activities as an artist, producing works on the theme of the legendary Bauhaus Dessau campus and the architect Le Corbusier. This is a photo book composed of stills photographed by Takimoto, published when Koreeda Hirokazu announced that "Like Ashura", a novel originally written by Mukoda Kuniko and adapted into a TV drama by NHK (later made into a film), would be remade into a TV drama by Netflix in 2025.
