"Stories" is a photo book by Peter Lindbergh (1944-2019), one of Germany's leading photographers. He studied painting as a student and started photography at a late age of 27, going independent at 29 and working for Vogue and other magazines. Lindbergh's name was made famous by his catalog photos for Comme des Garçons in the 1980s. His provocative and shocking black-and-white photos, which depicted independent women who were "strong" rather than "beautiful," were a breath of fresh air compared to the "elegant" images that dominated fashion photography at the time. The dynamic and emotional poses that Lindbergh demanded are said to have expanded the range of styling for models and expanded the possibilities of fashion. This book is a collection of images taken by Lindbergh, one of Dior's closest collaborators in its more than 70-year history. The book features 165 pieces, including some never-before-published pieces, ranging from haute couture to ready-to-wear, men's and women's wear, that were featured in some of the world's leading fashion magazines, such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
