"Kinbaku Shashin" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Akira Gomi. Born in Tokyo in 1953, Gomi graduated from the Department of Photography at Nihon University College of Art and went to France, where he studied for several years before returning to Japan in 1983. He then worked for fashion magazines such as "Ryuko Tsushin" and "ELLE JAPON", and since the 1990s has attracted attention for his innovative expressions using digital media. His representative works include "YELLOWS", a photo book that records the physical characteristics of 100 Japanese women, and "AMERICANS", a series of works that photograph women in various cities in the United States and highlight the differences in skin color, body type, and cultural background, which were also released in CD-ROM format. In recent years, he has also been working on creating works using generative AI, and is a photographer who continues to pursue the fusion of digital technology and photographic expression. This is an unusual work composed of color bondage photographs published in the early 1990s.
