"Issey Miyake (English Edition)" is a photo book of Issey Miyake by American photographer Irving Penn. Miyake Issey had admired Penn's work in Vogue and other publications since his student days. Since the 1970s, Issey, who had begun to dominate the global fashion scene along with Comme des Garcons and Yohji, finally collaborated with Penn in the late 1970s. Miyake himself says that he left everything to Penn, not interfering with the costumes worn by the models or the location of the shoot. He says that when he saw the finished image, he was so deeply moved that it even changed the way he looked at the clothes he designed. It was a collaboration of what Miyake calls "Aun no Kokyū" (a perfect harmony of breathing), where communication is achieved through the breathing of unspoken words that are spoken and received. This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition "Issey MIyake A Un" held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1988. Foreword by Isamu Noguchi. English version.
