A collection of photographs by Japanese journalist and photographer Akihiko Okamura, "The Whole Picture of the Vietnam War: Its Reality and Background - Special Photos by Akihiko Okamura". Born in Harajuku, Tokyo in 1929, he dropped out of Tokyo Medical College (now Tokyo Medical University) and after moving between various jobs and activities, he joined the editorial department of "Shinshukan" in 1961, where he became acquainted with Ken Domon and others, and joined the PANA News Agency the following year in 1962. He was assigned to Bangkok as an overseas correspondent, and during that time he bought his first camera, turning to photography at the age of 33. Since then, the photographs he took during his coverage of Laos and the Vietnam War have been featured in graphic magazines around the world, and he was especially featured in LIFE as "the war photographer who succeeded Capa". He continued to cover the war energetically after that, but after the late 1970s he moved away from cameras and passed away suddenly in 1985. This book is a 104-page introduction to the whole picture of the Vietnam War photographed by Okamura.
