Superstudio: Life without Objects is a comprehensive monograph on the Italian architectural group Superstudio, which was formed in Florence in 1966. Superstudio attracted attention for their radical architectural ideas that criticized modern architecture and functionalism. This book includes over 200 of their experimental projects developed in the 1960s and 1970s, including their early drawings, photomontages, film scripts, and critical essays. Their attitude of going beyond the framework of architecture and stepping into the realms of philosophy, art, and social criticism also influenced later postmodern and conceptual art. Their infinitely expanding grid-like city concept and their longing for a life without objects also have the foresight to be found in today's sustainability and digital urban theory. Compiled by Peter Lang and William Menking, this book reconstructs their ideas and visual language in three dimensions with a wealth of materials, making it an extremely important record for both architectural history and intellectual history.
