"Tokyo 1936 (Signed)" is a photo collection by Kuwabara Koshio, a renowned Japanese photographer, critic, and editor. Born in 1913 in Ueno, a downtown area of Tokyo, Kuwabara was childhood friends with leading Japanese photojournalist Hiroshi Hamaya and was influenced by Hamaya's photographs from his junior high school days. Beginning in the 1930s, he began taking snapshots of the downtown area as an amateur. After the war, he served as editor-in-chief of numerous camera magazines, including "Ars Camera," "Camera Geijutsu," and "Sankei Camera," establishing himself as a critic and commentator. When Daido Moriyama published his debut work, "Nippon Gekijo Shashincho," he remarked that only Kuwabara's book reviews were interesting. Since the 1990s, photography itself has been reevaluated, leading to the publication of numerous exhibitions and photo books, but this book is a collection of works published in 1974 and is a representative work of Kuwabara, also included in "History of Japanese Photography 1956-1986," and the prints were made by Nobuyoshi Araki and Kojiro Yaehata of Gueribara. Signed by the photographer .
