"Japan's Drug Scourge" is a photo collection by Katsuo Kenmochi, one of Japan's leading postwar photographers. Amid the globally popular Japanese photography scene of the 1960s and 1970s, centered around artists from VIVO, PROVOKE, and CAMP, this unique man's presence must not be forgotten. Katsuo Kenmochi, a photographer who, for over 40 years, worked with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare and the National Police Agency to put a stop to the drug vortex that had spread by American soldiers following Japan's defeat in the war, produced reportage. Furthermore, in order to avoid the secrecy and human rights violations involved in drug investigations, he mastered the abstraction of photographic expression through innovative photographic techniques and the use of mechanisms. He utilized these techniques to discover a unique worldview in the artistic expression of "sexuality" and "eroticism," making him active not only as a journalist but also as an artist. This book is a massive 529-page compilation of drug research over many years, with the first 300 pages being just under photo plates and the last 200 pages being just over text. It also includes many of the illustrations from "Magic Drug Fort Document" and "Magic Drug '61 → '72 Pleasure's Reward." Photogravure printing.
