Norwegian photographer Marie Sjøvold's "Dust Catches Light" is a collection of her work. Returning to her homeland after a long stint abroad, the artist meticulously traces, through photographs and words, the gradual reorganization of her roles and relationships in her familiar surroundings. Centered around Sjøvold's own pregnancy, this work presents a diary-like series of photographs that trace the process by which familiar rooms and family presences take on new meanings as her body changes. Rather than dramatizing events, the texture of light, silence, and distance convey emotional fluctuations, intersecting her personal experiences with the social perspective of "motherhood."
