"Viva! Sasuke" is a photo collection by leading Japanese photographer Masahisa Fukase. Alongside "Family," "Yoko (Wife)," and "Crow," this book is one of three books in the "Cat" series published in 1979. It was published as a supplement to "Cat Life." The book begins with the line, "I don't have a cat... Ever since I was old enough to understand, cats have always been by my side." It introduces the kitten "Sasuke" that Fukase adopted from his photographer friend, Yutaka Takanashi. However, Sasuke soon disappeared. After a notice was posted in the neighborhood, a kitten was found in a parking lot. Unfortunately, it was a different cat, but Fukase adopted it and it became his second Sasuke. This book features adorable black-and-white photographs of the days spent with his second Sasuke, including Sunday pedestrian zones, trips to Yamanashi, the zoo, and the beach. "I decided to transform myself into a cat and record it as a companion animal from kitten to adult. This book is a sort of interim report on that journey" (from Fukase's afterword). The first edition was published in 1978, and this is the second printing, published in 1979. Signed .
