Japanese photographer Katsuya Watanabe presents "Mokukei Toshi / City of Apocalypse (Signed)." Born in Kagawa Prefecture in 1941, Watanabe began studying under Kansai-based photographer Hiroyuki Yamamoto in 1978, and has since held exhibitions at Minolta Photo Space and other venues since the 1990s. Yamamoto was a member of the Osaka Kogei Club, an amateur photography group mentored by Takeji Iwamiya, a leading Kansai photographer and renowned educator. Yamamoto was also a close friend of legendary photographer Yasushi Sugino, known for his "Impressive Landscape" series, and was referred to by Kimio Aoki as a "confidant." Yamamoto was renowned for his unique black-and-white works featuring urban themes. This is Watanabe's first book, and it features avant-garde black-and-white works that continue the legacy of Kansai photography created by Sugino, Aoki, and Yamamoto. This book was published by Aim Press, which is run by Eiji Arino, and has many similarities to Arino's style, reminiscent of Jun Abe, who has been publishing monochrome snapshot photo books every year in recent years. Signed by the photographer .
