"The Eros of Baroque" is a collection of works by Irina Ionesco, a female photographer active in France. Born in Paris in 1935 to Romanian parents, she spent her childhood in Romania. After returning to Paris after the war, she continued her career as a dancer for nearly 10 years, but began recuperating due to illness, which is when she began painting. She first picked up a camera on Christmas night, just before turning 30, and after acquiring a Nikon F, began taking portraits of women and girls. Her Surrealist-inspired style has been called "modern Baroque photography," and has attracted attention since her first solo exhibition in 1970, exhibiting her work in Japan at Nikon Gallery and Zeit Photo. She remains a timeless photographer. This book, published by Libroport in 1988, features portraits and nudes, both in black and white and in color. The unique cover design was done by Suzuki Kazushi and Otake Sakito.
