"Kern Noir" is a collection of works by American photographer and filmmaker Richard Kern (1954–). Kern was a central figure in the underground culture of New York's East Village in the 1980s, and while associated with Lydia Lunch and others, he also participated in the "Cinema of Transgression" film movement, known for its radical expression. Alongside his artistic activities, he continued his photography, creating unique images that explore the boundaries between pornography and art through themes such as sex, desire, and voyeuristic gazes.
