"Hysteric Fourteen" is a photobook by Shigeichi Nagano, one of Japan's leading postwar photographers. While at Keio University, he studied photography under Yasuzo Nojima and others. After graduation, he joined the editorial staff of "Weekly Sun News," which Yonosuke Natori was editing with the aim of creating "Life" magazine. Later, at Natori's invitation, he became a staff member of the "Iwanami Photo Library," traveling all over Japan and immersing himself in photography. From 1954 onwards, he became a freelancer, handling numerous reportages both domestically and internationally, as well as serializations in various photography magazines. He was a great photographer and editor who contributed to the formation of the foundation of Japanese photography from the 1960s onward. This book is one of a series of photobooks published by the collection brand "Hysteric Glamour." It is edited in two parts: illustrations of the postwar reconstruction period taken throughout Japan in the 1950s, including his time at the Iwanami Photo Library, and illustrations of modernized Tokyo in the 21st century. The book is a masterful work that contrasts the unchanging and the changing.
