"As it may be" is a photobook by Belgian female photographer Beike Deporter. Born in 1986, she graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. Her work "Ou Menya," which captured the families and homes she met and stayed with during a trip to Russia for her graduation project, won the Magnum Expression Award and was compiled into a photobook in 2011. The following year, 2012, she became a member of Magnum Photos, and in 2016, she became a full member at a young age. Since then, she has continued to use the same method as "Ou Menya" to publish "I am About to Call it a Day" (2014), set in America, but this book is, in a sense, the "Egypt" version. The photographs also incorporate a technique that has become increasingly common recently, where the text and illustrations freely written by the subjects are included in the artwork. The illustrations are unique in that they offer a glimpse into each person's thoughts on society, religion, and photography.
