"Secession (Signed)" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. Looking back at how many of the hundreds of photobooks Araki has published have "Tokyo" in their titles, we find that it dates back to his early days as part of the photocopying group Gueribara, followed by "Tokyo Elegy" (1973), "Tokyo in Autumn" (1984), "Tokyo Diary" (1989), "Tokyo Story" (1989), "Tokyo Nude" (1989), "Tokyo Lucky Hole" (1990), "Tokyo Weather" (1993), "Tokyo Cat Town" (1993), "Tokyo Love" (1994), "Tokyo Wind" (1995), "Tokyo Novel" (1995), "Tokyo Affair" (1998), "Tokyo Kannon" (1998), and "Tokyo Longing" (1999). This is just the number of works from the 20th century alone, and if we include works published in the 21st century, the number may exceed 50. This book is a catalog photobook published in conjunction with the "Nobuyoshi Araki Tokyo Comedy Exhibition" held at the Vienna Secession in Austria in the autumn of 1997, and the Japanese version was published as "Tokyo Comedy" (Korinsha Publishing, 1997). It includes snapshots, landscapes, portraits, nudes, and bondage photographs taken in Tokyo.
