"Monochrome (With OBI)" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama. His unique style, which effectively utilizes grainy textures, blur, and out-of-focus effects, had a major impact on the photography world in the 1960s. This book, "Monochrome," is a photobook published by Getsuyosha in 2012. It is a series of photographs taken in Tokyo from 2008 to 2012, consisting of snapshots taken in various parts of the city. In 2013, an exhibition of the same name was held at the Musashino City Kichijoji Art Museum. "While cutting into details as if peeling back the folds of people's lives and digging into the depths of the city, there is an exquisite sense of distance. Beyond that cold gaze, which leaves a sense of detachment, there is an unforgiving venom, and even in the deserted scenes, a raw sense of humanity permeates. Unfamiliar scenes that certainly exist in the Tokyo that we should be familiar with, those who stand before these works may feel as if they are witnesses" (from the website). The diverse facets of the city, captured in a way only Moriyama could, are imprinted in monochrome. The book design is by Shinro Ohtake. Comes with a dust jacket.
