"Des Oiseaux (English Edition)" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Yoshinori Mizutani (1987-). Raised amidst the rich natural environment of Fukui Prefecture, Mizutani moved to Tokyo at the age of 18, where he studied photography at the Tokyo College of Photography. He has attracted attention both domestically and internationally, including being selected for Foam Talent in 2014. He is known for his style of turning familiar scenes into a somewhat otherworldly and fantastical world through vivid colors and graphical compositions, focusing his gaze on the nature hidden in the everyday life of the city. This book is one of the "Des oiseaux" photobook series developed by Éditions Xavier Barral in France, in which various photographers capture "birds." It consists of two series, "Tokyo Parrots" and "Birds," photographed in Tokyo from 2013 to 2016. Wild parakeets in the city, as well as birds flocking among branches, power lines, and buildings, are not recorded as ecological photographs, but appear on the screen as part of the colors and shapes that make up the city of Tokyo. This book condenses Mizutani's unique visual world, where nature and artificial objects, reality and fantasy, vividly intertwine. English edition.
