"Tsuge Yoshiharu Nagaregumo Tabi" is a travelogue by Yoshiharu Tsuge (1937-2026), one of Japan's leading manga artists; Norio Osaki (1940-), an editor and haiku poet; and Kazuo Kitai (1944-), a photographer. Tsuge, who built his own unique world with works such as "Nejishiki" and "Gensenkan Shujin"; Kitai, who has documented postwar Japanese society and people with works such as "Tekikou," "Sanrizuka," and "Mura e"; and Osaki, who was an editor at "Asahi Graph" at the time, traveled to various places starting in 1969. This work was born from these three travelers. Combining Osaki's writing, Tsuge's illustrations, and Kitai's photographs, they traveled to places such as the Shimokita Peninsula, hot spring resorts in Tohoku, the Shikoku Pilgrimage, and the Kunisaki Peninsula, documenting the landscapes, lifestyles, and encounters with people in rural areas that were disappearing amidst rapid economic growth. The first edition of this collected work was published in 1971 by Asahi Sonorama. This book is a significantly expanded and reprinted edition from Asahi Shimbun Publications in 2023, approximately half a century after its initial publication, including related travelogues, "Further Notes on the Journey of Flowing Clouds," and a three-way discussion.
