This is the second issue from the Tokyo-based publishing project "Partners." Partners continues to engage in activities that transcend the fields of photography, art, design, and writing, viewing editing itself as a creative practice as well as a platform for presenting works. This magazine, too, differs from typical photography and art magazines, and is structured as an experimental space where multiple artists and expressions intersect. With each turn of the page, diverse elements such as photographs, text, illustrations, and archives appear, each an independent work, yet they create new relationships within the flow of the book. Rather than presenting a completed conclusion or a clear theme, the state of coexistence of different perspectives and ways of thinking is valued. Born amidst the increased activity of independent publishing and artist books in Japan since the late 2010s, this work is also interesting as an attempt to lightly cross the boundaries between magazines and art books. It is a book that shows the rich potential of contemporary independent publishing culture, viewing publishing not merely as a recording medium but as a place for expression.
