"Alice (New Edition)" by Japanese photographer Hajime Sawada. After graduating from the Department of Photography at Nihon University College of Art, he worked as an assistant to Yutaka Takanashi before becoming a freelancer. Since then, he has been active as a fashion photographer for numerous famous magazines, and in the 1970s he made a name for himself with innocent, beautiful, and sometimes fantastical portraits of girls and women such as "The Dollhouse in the Forest," "Nadia," and "The Girl Who Came from the Sea." Since the 1980s, he has continued to be active on the front lines, mainly with works by artists and idols. This book is a new edition of his memorable first photo book, published in 1991. Created with Alice in Wonderland as the motif, the model is 10-year-old Samantha, who was selected in an audition held in England, Alice's homeland, and all the shooting took place in England. The project boasts a stellar cast including planning and editing by Shigeo Kuwahara, book design by Seiichi Horiuchi, foreword by Shuzo Takiguchi, and poetry by Shuntaro Tanikawa. A special edition containing previously unreleased works was also released in 2014.
