"Yama to Hada (Signed)" is a photobook by Japanese photographer Meisa Fujishiro (1967-). Fujishiro, who has been active in a wide range of fields including fashion, advertising, music, and travel, mainly focusing on portraits and nudes of women since the 1990s, moved to Okinawa in 2011 and has since broadened her focus to nature and landscapes. This book is a work born from Fujishiro's simple curiosity, juxtaposing two subjects that have attracted her: "mountains" and "nudes." Mountain photographs and images of women's bodies appear alternately, and human "skin" and the natural "mountain surface" respond to each other through undulations, curves, textures, light and shadow. In 2016, she published "SKETCHES OF TOKYO," which photographed Tokyo, and her first full-fledged landscape photography book, "Aoao," and this book can be said to be a work in which her previously separate perspectives on people and landscapes come together. Rather than constructing images from theory, she photographs what she is purely attracted to and discovers unexpected relationships by juxtaposing them. This book vividly expresses Fujishiro's intuitive photographic perspective through the simple contrast of mountain slopes and human skin.
