"AMS (Signed)" is a photobook by Japanese photographer Seiichi Furuya. Born in 1950 in Nishi-Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture, he studied photography at university before moving to Austria in the early 1970s via Siberia and Moscow. He then based his creative activities in Graz, while also founding and editing the photography magazine "Camera Austria," and organizing exhibitions of photographers such as Shomei Tomatsu, Nobuyoshi Araki, and Daido Moriyama. He is a photographer who has dedicated himself to introducing Japanese photography to Europe. Seiichi Furuya is best known for his work with his wife Christine, whom he met and married in Graz, and who later took her own life. He continues to create personal documentaries that nurture their love through photographs and memoirs, remembering her and pursuing her memories. This book is his first photobook, published in 1981, and consists of snapshots taken in Amsterdam. It is a collection of little-known early masterpieces where the photographer's originality and exceptional sense are embodied in the framing, reflections, and storytelling.
