"Pia" is a photobook by Canadian-born photographer Christopher Anderson (1970). Anderson, who built his career as a documentary photographer covering conflict zones and other challenging locations, turned his camera to his own family in this second volume of his "Family Trilogy." The trilogy, which follows "Son," featuring his son Atlas, this book capturing his daughter Pia, and "Marion," focusing on his wife, has become one of his most representative works. Photographed between 2014 and 2020, this book intertwines the family's time as they move from New York to Paris with the gradual growth of young Pia. As she grows, she becomes aware of the camera's presence and sometimes acts as if she is playing a role, changing the relationship between father and daughter, as well as photographer and subject. Filled with intimate and soft light, the photographs evoke a coexistence of melancholy for the passing of time and hope for the future, making this an important work that symbolizes Anderson's personal photographic expression.
