"How We Are" is a photo book by British photographer Ewan Duff. His mother was Beggy Duff, a famous politician and peace activist who was active before and after the war. His father was Bill Duff, a journalist who died in World War II. Born and raised in such a family, Ewan has been active as a photojournalist mainly in London since the 1960s, and since the 1970s has taught at numerous universities and photography institutes, and has also worked as an educator. Ewan has held exhibitions at famous art museums such as Tate Britain, and this book is his masterpiece published in 1971. It is composed of a group of works depicting ordinary British daily life, but the presentation is very unique. By arranging the illustrations in a sequence on the basis of themes such as "Marriage", "Family", "Friend", "Children", "Youth", "Work", and "Leisure", the book expresses people's behavior, relationships, and solid "facts" and "records" in a wonderful and easy-to-understand manner using only visuals. Text by renowned critic John Berger.
