"Paris by Night" is a photo collection by French photographer Brassaï. Born in Hungary in 1899, Brassaï moved to Paris in the 1920s and spent his time there. He studied under the master André Kertesz and was one of France's leading photographers, active since before the war alongside Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Doisneau. He was also close friends with artists such as Picasso, Matisse and Giacometti, and was an artist himself with extraordinary talent in sculpture and drawing. Brassaï's signature works are "Graffiti," a collection of graffiti painted on the walls and grounds of the city, and "Paris du Nuit." This book is a revised English version of "Paris by Night," published in 1987. This book beautifully depicts the charm of Paris, from the underground world far removed from the glamorous image of Paris, such as prostitutes, vagrants, streets lit by lights in the dark, rain-soaked cobblestones, and blazing factories, to the beautiful scenery that the city exudes. Please enjoy the camera eye of Brassaï, who was described by novelist Henry Miller as "the eye of Paris."
