"Angel Festival (Signed)" is a photobook by Nobuyoshi Araki (1940-), one of Japan's leading photographers. Araki has published as many as 500 photobooks to date, starting with the privately published "Xerox Photobook" (25 volumes) in 1970. This book is a large-format photobook published in 1992, and it is thought to have been released in conjunction with his solo exhibition "Angel Festival" held at Parco Gallery and other venues that same year (it was also presented as "Araki Cinema" at Parco Theatre). It mainly consists of photographs of women, including portraits and nudes, and the expressions are striking, being erotic yet tinged with melancholy and dampness. The occasional photographs of flowers and landscapes are poetic and seem to enhance the mood. The impact of the photographs and the layout can be enjoyed in a format unique to large-format books, and the bookmaking by Seiichi Suzuki, who has worked on many of Araki's photobooks, is elaborate, with photographs of different sizes and paper types inserted in between, and folds used. Signed by the photographer .
