"Shinjuku (Second Printing, With OBI)" is a photobook by Daido Moriyama, one of Japan's leading photographers. After working as an assistant to Takeji Iwamiya and then as an assistant to Eikoh Hosoe, he became a freelancer. He began publishing his work in the mid-1960s and has since published numerous photobooks. Works such as "Nippon Gekijo Shashincho," "Shashin yo Sayonara," "Karyudo," "Kagero," and "Hikari to Kage" are still considered masterpieces today. His works, characterized by high-contrast, impactful monochrome images, abstract expressions using blur and out-of-focus shots, a subtle eroticism, and a humane affection, are so original that they are instantly recognizable as Daido Moriyama's. This book focuses on Shinjuku, which can be considered Moriyama's home, and captures various scenes of the city. As the author states in his contribution to this book, "If you're a photographer, there's no other choice but to photograph Shinjuku," he captures the vibrant, chaotic, and therefore energetic, city of Shinjuku with his unique intuition. A revised and expanded version of this book, "Shinjuku+", was published in 2006. Second printing. With dust jacket.
