"Inscape" is a photobook by British photographer John Blakemore. Born in Coventry, England in 1936, Blakemore encountered photography during his service in the Royal Air Force and subsequently taught himself photography. Influenced by the historic exhibition "The Family of Man," produced in 1955 by Edward Steichen, then director of photography at MoMA, Blakemore documented the post-war reconstruction of his hometown, Coventry, through portraits of its people. From 1971 for approximately 30 years, he taught photography at the University of Derby, and was later awarded the title of Professor Emeritus in recognition of his significant contributions. This book is comprised of landscape and still-life works taken between the 1970s and 1990s. It also includes Blakemore's representative still-life photographs of tulips and plants. Readers will be captivated by the fantastical depictions of nature and the symphony-like still lifes of plants. Contains 57 illustrations.
