"Jigo Kyoen" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Shimamine Jo. He has been active as a photographer since the mid-1960s, and currently operates his own photography studio based in Hachioji, Tokyo. This is Shimamine's first work, which he released in his 10th year as a photographer, and is composed of two simple chapters, "Women" and "Men." Tad Wakamatsu, a photographer who was already active at the time, contributed the following: "His photograph of "Women" makes me feel the passage of time and the range of movement of people or objects in many different ways. (Omitted) And in "Men," I even feel a parody. When I look at the photograph, I can feel each person's different time, and even the "color of time" in this black and white photograph." It is a collection of unique works that are typical of the self-published collections that were popular in the 1970s.
