"Kyoto Demachi" is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Kai Fusayoshi. Born in 1949, Kai started taking photographs at the age of 11, and has been publishing photo collections and holding photo exhibitions since the 1970s, many of which are based on Kyoto. In 1972, he opened "Hon-yara-do" with folk singer Okabayashi Nobuyasu and others. It is said that this was a base for poets in Kyoto, but it burned down in 2015, and Kai's black-and-white negatives were lost. From the 1970s to the 1990s, he has published more than 40 collections of works, including those published by self-publishers and those published by major publishers, but this book is Kai's first book, published in 1977 under the name of Hon-yara-do. Although the format is simple, it is a collection of snapshots filled with love, typical of Kai.
