"1960-1982: Tokyo Polytechnic University Photo Gallery Archive (Moriyama Daido Photo Collection 5)" is a collection of works by Daido Moriyama, one of Japan's leading postwar photographers. This is the final volume of the "Moriyama Daido Photo Collection" series, which revives Daido Moriyama's representative works, including "Nippon Photo Theater," "Goodbye Photography," "The Hunter," and "Light and Shadow." The photographer Eikoh Hosoe, who Moriyama studied under in the early 1960s and who recently passed away, served as chairman of the Tokyo Polytechnic University's Photo Gallery when he was a professor there, and through this connection, a large-scale solo exhibition of Moriyama's work was held in 1976. Nearly 500 works were introduced from among the approximately 900 prints. These prints were purchased by the Tokyo Polytechnic University and stored at the university, and this book was compiled from those prints and those newly acquired in 2003. This book contains over 900 of Moriyama's early works, and is supported by the book design of bookbinder Satoru Machiguchi and the printing techniques of printing director Noboru Takayanagi.
