"Sports Theater" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Jun Tsuchida. Born in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture in 1962, he graduated from Tokyo College of Photography and studied under Akihito Mizutani, a leading figure in sports photography, for five years before going independent. Since 1997, he has been a member of the sports photography group "Afro Sports" and has been photographing domestic and international sports competitions, including the Olympics. Since 2015, he has been working as a freelancer again, and continues to do so to this day. This is Tsuchida's first book, and the works that won him the 5th Higashikawa Award for New Artists in 1989 are included in the collection. Since it is composed entirely of black and white, there is no commercial element at all, and the works are not only attractive to sports such as strength, beauty, joy, and sadness, but also have a high level of artistry in composition and contrast that goes beyond the boundaries of "sports photography."
